KF-Streptococcus Broth is a purple coloured nutrient broth used for detecting enterococci in water. Maltose and lactose are the fermentable carbohydrates. Sodium azide selects for Gram-positive bacteria. Bromocresol purple is the indicator dye. TTC (2, 3, 5 triphenyltetrazolium chloride) results in pink to red colour colonies when it is reduced to insoluble formazan by metabolising cells.
